On March 27-28 2011 the Canada Centre for Global Security Studies at the Munk School of Global Affairs and the SecDev Group (Ottawa) convened a public forum entitled Securing the Cyber Commons: a Global Dialogue .
The event brought together a diverse range of stakeholders from academia, government, the private sector and civil society to address the challenges of balancing cyber security with respect for democracy, governance, and human rights, and the preservation of cyberspace as an open commons. The event was sponsored by The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Government of Canada, Google Inc., and Bell Canada.
