Collin Anderson is a Washington, DC-based researcher currently working on documenting online activism, electronic surveillance and Internet censorship in the Middle East, specifically Iran and Syria. He has also been involved in identifying the international flow of surveillance equipment to repressive governments and exploring alternative communications tools that bypass normal channels of state control. His participation in issues of connectivity has led to documenting of availability and legality of online communications services to the public under sanctions restrictions, as well as the relationship between export regulations and democratization movements.
