Peng Hwa Ang is the director of the Singapore Internet Research Centre at Nanyang Technological University. A lawyer by training, his research is in the area of media law and policy, and Internet governance. His book, Ordering Chaos: Regulating the Internet (Thomson, 2005), argues that the Internet can be, is being, and should be regulated. He was a member of the UN Secretary-General appointed Working Group on Internet Governance and co-founded the Global Internet Governance Academic Network (GigaNet) where he served as inaugural chair. He also served as a co-founder and inaugural chair of the Asia-Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum.
