Guy Berger is UNESCO’s director for Freedom of Expression and Media Development, based in Paris. Between 1994 and 2011, he was head of the School of Journalism and Media Studies at Rhodes University, South Africa. He played a central role in the first 15 years of Highway Africa, the African continent’s largest annual gathering of journalists interested in the Internet.
