Andrei Soldatov is an investigative journalist and an editor of Agentura.Ru, an information hub on intelligence agencies. He began his career as a reporter in 1996. In September 2000, he started the Agentura.Ru project with several colleagues. He covered the siege of Nord-Ost in Moscow and the hostage crisis in Beslan. Soldatov regularly makes comments on terrorism and intelligence issues for Vedomosti, Radio Free Europe, and the BBC. In April 2008, Soldatov authored a chapter on Russia’s secret services for the PSI Handbook of Global Security and Intelligence: National Approaches (Praeger, 2008). Along with Irina Borogan, he is co-author of the book The New Nobility: The Restoration of Russia’s Security State and the Enduring Legacy of the KGB (PublicAffairs, 2010).
