Chris Spence is chief technology officer at the National Democratic Institute (NDI). He leads the technology initiatives for the Institute and its programs to promote and strengthen democracy around the world. Chris is responsible for the Institute’s overall technology initiatives spanning 70 countries around the world. He has conducted NDI technology programs in dozens of countries around the world with particular expertise in Africa, and has worked with a large number of legislatures, governments, election monitoring organizations, political parties and civil society organizations in developing countries and emerging democracies. Spence also oversees NDI’s internal technology strategy, infrastructure and services. Spence’s technology career started in Silicon Valley with several companies including Oracle, Netscape, and Triad Systems.
